Established in 2011, Wayne Ki Awaaz is Wayne State’s premier, award winning, South Asian fusion A Cappella team. Located in Detroit, MI, our family of Warriors has an intense passion for music and having the most fun possible.

Wayne Ki Awaaz translates to “The Voice of Wayne,” a name that our group has lived up to over the years. From performing for campus fundraisers for non-profit groups to competing at national competitions held by the Network of Desi A Cappella, Wayne Ki Awaaz has truly become the voice of Wayne State University.

Since its formation, Wayne Ki Awaaz has won third place at Sahana, third place at Anahat, won best male soloist at Sangeet Saagar, outstanding male soloist at Sahana, and competed at Gathe Raho.

Wayne Ki Awaaz places 3rd at Sahana and member Arjun Ramesh is given the Outstanding Male Soloist Award!

Wayne Ki Awaaz looks to create a fusion of both Eastern and Western music without instruments. We pay homage to our mother tongue with classical songs from the heart of the Indian subcontinent, while joining these with pieces we’ve grown up with in the States. Our goal is to create music that will inspire others by creating mixes from various genres to create a diverse musical outreach.
